How to Transfer a Domain Name AWAY from Namesco at Names.co.uk

Namesco Limited trading on the domain name names.co.uk charge £11.75 per UK domain to change the IPS TAG so that you can move to another Hosting Company or ISP.

To start the Domain Name Transfer

Log into your online account at http://www.names.co.uk/controlpanel.html

click on the .uk domain name to transfer

click the "Transfer Options" link to the left

Go to "Option 3 : Change Nominet TAG" and click the link

enter the new Nominet IPSTAG in the box provided

To transfer away:

Log in to MyFreeola.
Click on the "Domain Manager" link.
Check the box next to the domain and click the "Transfer Out" button.
A screen will be displayed asking if you are sure you want to do this, click continue.
Type in the IPS tag, admin e-mail address or Technical Handle - whichever is relevant, and click "Continue".
Check that the information given is correct and click "Continue"
Follow the payment procedure on screen.
Once the transaction has completed the domain should be transferred away within 48 hours.

How to Transfer a Domain Name AWAY from NetNames.com

NetNames.com (and NetNames.co.uk ) charge £22.32 per UK domain to change the IPS TAG so that you can move to another Hosting Company or ISP.

They have a special domain name release form which you need to complete and fax back on 0870 458 9454 or post it to:

To start a transfer, they do not have a transfer page so email them at support@netnames.co.uk asking for a "Domain Name Transfer Form". They will email it back to you as a PDF document.

You will need to fill in:

Do you with to cancel all associated services with this domain name? Yes/No
New Service Providers Name
IPS TAG of your new ISP
Primary & Secondary Name Servers
Credit Card details to pay the £19 + VAT
Your Name
Account Name
Signature
First 3 characters of your account password

How to Transfer a Domain Name AWAY from Easyspace hosting company

Easyspace is a popular UK hosting company, offering Domain Registration and Domain Name Hosting from as little as £4.75 per year.

Transfering your domain name AWAY from Easyspace is not so cheap.

During a recent domain name purchase, it came to light that the seller did not want to pay the £49 domain name transfer fee imposed by Easyspace.

How to transfer a Domain Name Away From Easyspace?

To move a domain name from Easyspace to another Domain Name Registrar (domain registration company) you need to change the Nominet IPS TAG. To see the IPS TAG on a domain name do a WHOIS lookup, this will show you the current registration information on the domain name.

You can look it up here.

Under where it says "Enter Domain Names (one per line) to check current status" type in your domain name and click "submit domain query".

click on "Whois"

Check for this:

This confirms your Domain Name is with Easyspace. (TAG means IPS TAG).

To change your IPS TAG

Login to the Easyspace ServiceCentre
Select Domain Management
Select Domain
Select Transfer Management
Click Transfer a domain FROM Easyspace
Click Proceed
Select domain and enter new host, IPS TAG, payment details for the £49 release fee
Click Proceed

If you receive the error message : "Error: Invalid parameter for 'IPSTAG transfer'"
you need to check with your new hosting company what their IPS TAG is or check with Nominet, the UK registration authority.

Once the IPSTAG has been changed to the new Hosting Company, all Domain Name Administration and renewal fees will be through them.
